I joined NAKEDPR. in July 2023 as a Junior Account Executive, and it’s hard to fathom that a year has gone by in my ‘new’ role already!
A little bit about me
In 2020 I graduated from Ulster University with a degree in Politics BSc. I really enjoyed my degree and the variety of topics it covered, however one area that I found myself drawn to was the communications element of politics.
When I left university, I joined a graduate scheme and worked as an associate analyst. This was a great opportunity to work across clients from a variety of sectors, including banking and retail. I gained a wealth of experience during my two years here, and in 2023 I decided to take the leap and pursue a career in PR and communications.
I joined NAKEDPR in July 2023 in what was my first role in the industry. Having worked in a client-based role previously, this aspect of the job was familiar to me. However, agency life has been full of exciting new challenges and has proven the perfect way to immerse myself in the world of communications!
My Initial Thoughts
My initial thoughts were that I loved the offices! We are based in the landmark Scottish Provident Building in a big bright suite with great views overlooking Belfast’s City Hall. It is a lovely place to work, and I am fortunate to be able to walk into work every day which is a bonus.
The second thing that stood out to me was the team. The NAKEDPR team are so friendly and knowledgeable, and made me feel welcome from the moment I walked through the door. We all come from different backgrounds and contribute our own unique ideas and skillset to our projects. It is a great team environment, and we are all very supportive of one another.
The First Year
Something that regularly comes up in the office on a Friday is how quickly the week has flown by. As a fully integrated PR, Comms, and Marketing agency, no two days are ever the same, and our days and weeks seem to pass in the wink of an eye!
We work with an array of clients from a broad of range of sectors, from engineering to charity, property to aerospace. There is so much happening in these sectors across Northern Ireland and our clients are some of the most innovative in the region, with news-worthy stories about their work coming through nearly every week. It’s exciting to be a part of it, especially when many of these stories have a wider impact. For example, our client RiverRidge has been doing some exciting work when it comes to sustainability and revolutionising the way our region thinks about our resources and waste. The environment is something that I’m passionate about, so it’s been great to be able to promote this message! Ensuring we do these stories justice and send out a message that will resonate with audiences is important to us and makes every day exciting.
I have also enjoyed building relationships with each of our clients’ teams and it has been fascinating gaining a unique insight into various industries.
Some highlights from my first year include getting to know my clients and developing relations with them, working at a live motor racing event, the Armoy Races, seeing our clients work recognised with esteemed industry awards, and welcoming new clients to our portfolio.
I feel very fortunate to be able to tell the stories of my clients and am excited to see what the next year has in store!
